Paizinho Amador - accordionist of Paraíba

By Produção

Paizinho Amador was an accordion player born in the countryside of Paraíba (died in 1966). He was a virtuoso, self-taught and composer, who didn’t leave any recordings.

The biography of Paizinho Amador is extraordinary but not well conveyed.

His history is conveyed orally  and his compositions were learnt by ear by those musicians who knew and played with him and transmitted from one musician to the other.

His compositions were baiões, frevos, quadrilha (a Brazilian genres typical of the northeast), marchas, waltzes and choros, some slow some fast, that he played in small parties in the villages and farms of the Cariri region.

The old ones used to say that he was supernatural, such was his abilities.

He is till now revered by local accordion players, by those who knew him and those who get to know him through his compositions.

Danilo knows many of Paizinho’s compositions, learning from his father. Seu Demócrito, with his cavaquinho, accompanied the accordionist in the forró parties in the farms.
