The ones that are good born this way

Slender, quiet, Danilo prefers to rejoice in his mandolin alongside authentic choro players

Every Saturday, Danilo shows his art along with other choro players in the tuneful mornings of Casa Del Vecchio

There is an old saying that says talent and happiness never choose the doors they knock on. Concrete proof of that is Danilo Ezequiel Brito de Macedo, a 13-year-old boy who lives in Vila Nova Cahoeirinha and since he was five he has been playing the mandolin like a grownup.  Slender, humble, the boy is of few words and really prefers to practice his “strumming” with people who know the subject. Because of this he has become a big attraction at Casa Del Vecchio (...).

According to Mrs. Noêmia [his mother], little Danilo was enchanted by all these sounds: “He was always listening to Jacob do Bandolim on a small tape recorder we had, he would even sleep with the cassete in his hand”.

One day, the boy picked up his father’s instrument and started to pick out a tune. It was “Brasileirinho”, of Waldyr Azevedo, a very difficult piece, even for professional musicians. Not long after and he learned  another, and another. And never stopped.
